Season resets: what goes and what stays
Yes, WARDOGS wipes, and it does so on purpose, once a season. The reset takes your cash and your XP; it leaves the currency you convert cash into and the cosmetics you buy with it.

The rule, in the studio’s words
“At the end of a season, your cash and XP progression will reset with your cash auto converted into gold bars.” … “Your gold bars and cosmetics from a season will stay permanently on your account across seasons.”
Said in the video posted with Steam announcement — Early Access & Beyond
| On your account | When a season ends |
|---|---|
| Cash balance | Reset. Whatever is left is converted into Gold Bars automatically. |
| XP and track levels | Reset. Unlocks sit on track levels, so the ladder starts again. |
| Gold Bars | Kept, permanently. |
| Cosmetics | Kept, permanently. |
The reasons given in the same video are two: newer players start closer to veterans, and the studio gets room to rework progression during Early Access. The second one matters for planning, because it means the unlock ladder itself is expected to move between seasons.
The next season is a different ladder
The Season 1 changelog says it outright: “Each season we will have a different XP curve with different item orders.” Written in Steam announcement — Pre-Load Live & Season 1 Changelog So a reset is not a replay of the same climb. The progression page and the cost planner describe Season 1, and both will need checking against the next season’s changelog rather than being assumed to carry over.
What to do with cash before a reset
Leftover cash is not lost, it is converted, and the conversion goes into the one balance that survives. The studio has also said the cash-to-Gold-Bar exchange rate moves daily, so converting by hand during a season is a choice about timing. The video does not say which rate the automatic conversion at the end uses. Described in the video posted with Steam announcement — Early Access & Beyond What Gold Bars buy is on the cash and Gold Bars page.
When the first reset happens
The studio has now posted a date. A Steam announcement titled “WARDOGS | Season 02 Teaser” says Season 2 is coming 15 October 2026, with more details still to follow. Posted in Steam announcement — WARDOGS | Season 02 Teaser The post itself does not use the words “Season 1 ends”, but by the same rule this page describes above, a season’s reset lands when the next one begins — so 15 October 2026 is the first confirmed reset date, not a guess.
Before that post, the studio had only said work on the next season was already under way: “This doesn’t affect the content we’re working on for Season 2, but we are heavily focused on reactive quality of life feedback for the very short term.” From Steam announcement — Scheduled Maintenance & Patch 0.11 The patch timeline records every studio post that changes this.
The reset you can get early
One reset does not wait for the season. Players caught exploiting cash bugs get a timed ban, and the studio’s own words for the rest of the penalty are “We will reset your cash and XP to 0.” Joining a server built for farming XP is treated more harshly still, with a permanent ban. Set out in Steam announcement — Scheduled Maintenance & Patch 0.11 Which servers count is covered on the servers page.
What is meant to last across seasons
The same Early Access & Beyond video describes two systems intended to hold value through resets: player skills that build permanent account value, and a vault for items from the black market whose size is capped but can be upgraded permanently. Both were presented as plans for Early Access, with the caveat “Like we said, it’s not all ready on day one.” Treat them as announced, not as shipped, until a changelog says otherwise.
