Will WARDOGS come to console?

Yes, and the studio has now named a year: 2028. It has not named a day, a season or a console. A year and a release date get compressed into one headline constantly, so this page keeps them apart.

WARDOGS | Answering Your QuestionsBULKHEAD · 7:31 · from 5:25Starts at the console question, months before a year was given. The answer names Xbox and PlayStation as the plan and gives no date.

On the record

The studio was asked about a console release during a questions-and-answers video and said it absolutely wants to come to Xbox and PlayStation, that coming to console is the plan, and that it just does not know when. Said on camera in Steam announcement — Answering Your Questions

It came up again when pre-orders opened, more broadly and without naming a console: in the video that opened pre-orders, the studio said WARDOGS “will release into 1.0 and launch on multiple platforms”, and put full release at roughly 24 months after the Early Access launch. Said on camera in Steam announcement — Pre-Order Now

Then the year. The post that carried the launch trailer, on the day Early Access opened, read “Coming to consoles in 2028”, and the trailer’s own description on BULKHEAD’s channel repeats it. Posted in Steam announcement — WARDOGS Launch Trailer The pre-order estimate points the same way: roughly 24 months after the Early Access launch lands in 2028. No statement joins the two in one sentence, so read that as a fit, not as a confirmation that consoles arrive with 1.0.

Not on the record

  1. A day or a season for consoles. The year is on the record; nothing narrower is.
  2. Which consoles, from the studio. The 2028 line says only “consoles”, and the Q&A video answer names Xbox and PlayStation as families. The console stores are more specific: a PlayStation Store page lists PS5 with the year 2028, and an Xbox store page lists Xbox Series X|S with no date. Both name Team17 as publisher; neither can be bought.
  3. Game Pass. Not mentioned for any platform, and a console release would not settle it on its own; the Game Pass page has what Microsoft’s own lists show.
  4. Whether console players share lobbies with PC players. See crossplay, where the silence is total.
  5. Whether progress and purchases carry across. The cash balance and the six progression tracks are account-level on PC; whether an account spans platforms has never been described.

Why the year is still only a year

The studio has published a list of systems it still intends to build during Early Access — a Black Market and Vault, and a player skills and challenge system described in Steam announcement — Early Access & Beyond. Console certification wants a stable feature set. A studio that is still adding structural systems is not in a position to put a day on a console submission. A year is as precise as that answer can honestly get, and a year set this far out can still move.
