WARDOGS on Steam Deck
Two separate things are missing here, and it is worth not confusing them: Valve has not rated the game, and the studio has not discussed the hardware. What the studio has discussed is the layer the Deck runs on.
The dependency chain
- The Deck runs SteamOS.
- SteamOS runs Windows titles through Proton.
- The studio has told players not to expect the game to work through Proton, and to refund if they bought on that assumption — the full quote.
So the Deck question is answered indirectly, and answered discouragingly, without the Deck ever being named.
Two things worth checking yourself
A compatibility badge on the store page — Verified, Playable, or Unsupported — is Valve’s judgement and appears independently of anything the studio says. If one appears, it supersedes the reasoning on this page. Separately, the hardware bar is a real constraint on its own terms: the published minimum specification targets 1080p on low settings at 60fps with upscaling on a desktop GTX 1660-class card, in a mode carrying a hundred players. That is a demanding floor for a handheld even in the world where the compatibility layer cooperates.
